Airtightness Workshop - Find those hidden air leaks and seal them!
31st January: 2.30- 5.30pm
Join this practical workshop to get hands-on experience using a thermal camera to find where heat is leaving your home. Learn techniques in applying airtightness tape to reduce this heat loss and draughts.
This is a 3 hour workshop in central Cambridge with a small cost to cover materials.
Venue: Flamsteed Road Scout Hut, Flamsteed Road, Cambridge CB1 3QU

Build your own Airtightness In-Window Fan
Sat 14th February, 2:30pm - 5:30pm
A practical workshop where you build-your-own in window fan to take away with you - We supply all the PAT tested, CE rated components and tools plus the support to help you make and use your own airtightness measurement tool. We are also offering free observation places for this training.
This 3 hour workshop is in central Cambridge. Venue: Flamsteed Road Scout Hut, Flamsteed Road, Cambridge CB1 3QU
Fan Build place: The cost charged is to cover the price of all the components - £200 (price to be finalised subject to material costs).
Observation place: Free. Gives access to the talk, Q&A and observing the build.
This workshop could be of particular interest to community group members who could share out the finished fan to test different homes in their community or people who are deep retrofitting their property and want a cost effective way to check airtightness throughout the rennovation. The in-window fan gives the basic airtightness results of a Blower Door test at a fraction of the cost!

Cambridge Retrofit Hub are proud to be a part of this long standing Thermal Imaging project by Cambridge Carbon Footprint.
Book onto this free online training session to learn how you can use a thermal imaging camera to reveal where your home, and other buildings are leaking heat.
During a 60 minute session They’ll cover:
How to interpret thermal images and common pitfalls that lead to misinterpretation
Using the thermal cameras to get identify areas of poor insulation, draughts, faulty windows, heating problems, etc.
How to book a free thermal camera loan – available when you’re trained by this session
Your questions and concerns
Once you have completed this FREE training you will be eligible to borrow one of their FREE Thermal Imaging cameras.

Home Energy Advice Stall
Takes place monthly outside of the Cambridge Room Repair Cafe, first Saturday of each month from 9 am -12 pm
Our Home Energy Advisors can talk to you about your home and help you to work out ways to make it more comfortable, healthier and more energy efficient. This can be anything from sealing draughts, understanding your heating controls and avoiding mould growth to insulating your loft, changing to an air source heat pump or embarking on a full retrofit..
We welcome conversations with tenants and landlords as well as homeowners.

Cambridge Room Repair Cafe
Sat 7th March 2026, 9:00am – 12:00pm
The Cambridge Room Repair Cafe welcomes you anytime between 9am – 12pm at Unit 57, The Grafton Centre (opposite Boots).
No need to book, just turn up with your item needing repair and whilst you wait come learn about Cambridge Room. Our experienced volunteer repairers will do their best to fix things such as electronics, electro-mechanicals, small mechanical items and clothing. Repairs are free; any donations will go to Cambridge Room and to pay volunteer expenses.
How to get here: The Grafton Centre is a 20 minute walk from Cambridge Railway Station. There is bike parking available on Fitzroy and Burleigh Street. The four Park and Ride services stop at the Graton Bus Interchange every 10 mins and the Grafton Centre has two car parks (Sat Nav reference: CB1 1DB). Access information: Blue Badge parking bays are located on Level 4 of Grafton East car park. The Grafton Centre has a Shopmobility office on Level 4 of the Grafton East car park, where customers can borrow electric mobility scooters, electric wheelchairs, push wheelchairs, or rollators. There are lifts available for accessing different floors within the centre. New toilets, including disabled toilets, are located on the first floor, accessible via lift.
This event is insured by Wessex Insurance and run in partnership with Cambridge Carbon Footprint.
