About Us
Cambridge Retrofit Hub is a Home Energy & Retrofit Hub based in Cambridge and working across the region. Our ambition is to guide Cambridgeshire homeowners to warmer, more comfortable and energy efficient homes, supporting the UK’s Climate Change Act, committing the UK government by law to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by at least 100% of 1990 levels (Net Zero) by 2050. In 2022, emissions from residential buildings accounted for a fifth (20%) of greenhouse gas emissions in the UK. The UK Green Building Council advise that 29 million homes will require retrofitting by 2050.
As a registered Cooperative and Community Benefit Society we operate as a not-for-profit organisation with our members, supporters, volunteers and customers who share our aims to reinvest for the benefit of the whole community.
Our expert Home Energy Advisors and Trainers run regular events such as Retrofit Skills Workshops and Talks and a monthly Home Energy Advice Pop Up Stall. We also work with and provide experience from other local and UK based groups such as, Coaction, AECB, SEDA, Cambridge Carbon Footprint and Transition Cambridge Energy Group.
Our Retrofit ‘One Stop Shop’ looks after all the key stages of a home energy retrofit, from retrofit design through to project completion. We engage leading contractors and experienced retrofit specialists to offer you expert guidance through an often complex process. Our retrofit specialists aim to provide homeowners with peace of mind, quality assurance, and, when the retrofit is complete, the best home possible. We believe that the best way to achieve a comfortable, healthy and low-carbon home is through a whole house retrofit powered by a renewable energy heat pump. In an energy efficient home, insulation, air-tightness, advanced ventilation and a retrofit specialist designed heating system work perfectly together to deliver the best possible energy system for your home.

Melinda Rigby
Founder & Director, Volunteer
Melinda was a founding member of Sentec Ltd (1997) developing innovations for water and energy industries. This followed her previous work in the early 1990s, with helpful Friends of the Earth, exploring ways to nudge people to reduce consumption of water and energy.Committed to community resilience, she is co-developing Cambridge Retrofit Hub with inspiring others; a co-founder of CRH in 2024.

Dr Rob Leedham
Director, Volunteer
Rob is an Electronics Engineer working in Cambridge. He has enjoyed DIY home efficiency improvements over the last 25 years - slowly retrofitting his own home, insulating and electrifying everything to make it net zero energy. As a volunteer director of CRH he will passionately talk to anyone who will listen about how to reduce their fossil fuel reliance! -

When Jezz read Doughnut Economics several years ago it opened his eyes to how we could think differently about everything including how we live, how we heat our homes and how we can change our environments for the better. Fran joined Cambridge Retrofit Hub in April 2025 bringing with her years of experience in project and event management, administration and leadership in the charitable and not for profit sector. Having retrofitted her own home she is a regular Open Eco Homes host and has a wealth of experience in climate, retrofit and community action across Cambridgeshire.

Paul Kershaw

Paul’s passion is in making homes more energy efficient and healthy, to improve quality of life for the inhabitants.
His own journey into energy efficiency started with an EV that only had a range of 60 miles, the realisation that it wasn’t a hindrance and there were so many other advantages, which then evolved into an electrofit on his own home.
